🍇 Today we celebrate the Cabernet Franc blue grape, which is one of the ancestors of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Carmenère.
🗺️The exact place of origin is still unknown, it is likely that it comes from Spain, the Basque Country, but opinions are divided.
🍷 Its characteristic aroma and flavors include strawberry, raspberry, green bell pepper, crushed stone and chili pepper. Cabernet Franc tends to be completely dry, with medium body, tannin and alcohol, and medium to high acidity. It can be aged well in the bottle, up to 5-10 years.
🍝 Due to its higher acid content, it can be paired well with tomato-based dishes, vinegar sauces such as BBQ sauce or black lentils. The variety is softer and less intense than Cabernet Sauvignon.
🌬️He feels good in several climates. Today, it grows in the largest area in France, in Bordeaux, in the Loire Valley, followed by Italy in the ranking. Hungary, including Villány, is the fourth largest producer of Cabernet Franc in the world.
