The wine list was preceded by a welcome drink, the 2022 Hárslevelű Frizzante sparkling wine from Tokjai Eskol Pince. This light, refreshing drink provided the perfect introduction to ease participants into the next wines. I put together the wine list with great care, keeping in mind that as many of the country's wine regions as possible will be presented. Our trip also included stops in Tokaj, Badacsony, Balaton-felvidék, Etyek, Villány and Szekszárd.
We started the series with the 2022 Rizling2 Rhine Riesling wine from Laposa Birtok , which was followed by Mandorla Sauvignon Blanc from the Veszprém Archbishop's Cellar, also from 2022. Then we got to know the 2021 Chardonnay of the Etyeki Kúria , thus closing the line of white wines.
Our first red wine also came from Etyek, it was the 2018 Életjel Pinot Noir from Anonym Cellar , followed by the 2018 Merlot from Ruppert Borház in Villány, evoking the character of the southern wine region. The evening was crowned by the 2019 Euphoria Cabernet Sauvignon from the Szekretár Cellar in Szekszárd, which impressed everyone.
After the line, we tasted the wines of the evening and the Hárs-Furmint orange wine from the Dézsma Cellar was opened and presented by the winemaker-owner of the cellar, Zoltán Szabó. Even after the highlight of the evening, the Szekretár Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine held its own very well and rounded off the lineup nicely with its pronounced aroma of lime. The unique atmosphere of the Tasting Room and the directness of the participants made the evening even more unforgettable. The experience was not only in the exceptional wines, but also in the exciting conversations, new friendships and family atmosphere that this evening brought. I thank the Tasting Room for the venue, the cellars for the excellent wines offered, and you, the participants, for an evening I will remember for a long time. Join me at my tasting on December 20 !
